Acting Safaricom Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael Joseph on Tuesday revealed that he is also a cancer survivor.
Speaking during an interview at K24 TV, Micheal Joseph noted that he was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 while still the CEO of Safaricom.
"Not many people know that am also a cancer survivor, and that i was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 while still CEO of Safaricom. I was fortunate enough to be diagnosed, treatments, operations and now am a cancer survivor," he said.
Joseph was responding to a question about his plans on cancer which has taken away many prominent people including Bob Collymore who died on Monday at his home.
He noted that in memory of Bob, Safaricom will do more in helping with prevention and treatment of cancer.
Michael Joseph who is currently the chairman of Kenya Airways was re-appointed as Safaricom CEO following the death of Collymore.
He noted that his re-appointment was due to the fact that current top leaders at Safaricom are not ready to step in the late CEO's shoes.
He also noted that he has experience working as Safaricom CEO thus it would not be a new thing for him stepping in.
