Although stomach cancer is not that common, one can still develop it depending on the kind of lifestyle you maintain. There is no guarantee that you can prevent this type of cancer but there are a number of things you can do to lower your risks of developing it.
Some of the common signs of this type of cancer include abdominal pain, indigestion, fatigue, vomiting, and nausea.
Here are three ways to lower the risk of stomach cancer.
Ulcers are wounds of the stomach walls that can be caused by excessive acid production by the stomach or a bacteria known as H.pylori. Ulcers have been known to be precursors of stomach cancer especially ones caused by this bacteria. You may need to see a doctor and treat this condition in order to avoid complications.
2. Cut down on smoked foods
Eating foods preserved through smoking and salting can hurt the lining of the stomach exposing you to stomach cancer. Too much intake of these kinds of food has been proved to affect the stomach walls thereby increasing your risks of stomach cancer. To avoid this, limit the intake of smoked and salted meat and fish.
3. If you smoke, quit
You are advised to quit smoking if you are a smoker. Smoking tobacco has been linked to nearly all types of cancer with stomach cancer not being an exception. The risk of getting stomach cancer increases with the number of cigarettes you smoke in a day. Smoking could also cause lung cancer.
