Thirdway Alliance party boss Dr Ekuru Aukot now says that there exists a camp of persons out to scatter his bid to subject the nation into a constitutional amendment exercise.

Aukot leads the Punguza Mizigo push which seeks to reduce the number of seats in parliament to slightly above 140 and introduce a fixed seven-year presidential term.

However, the push has been facing opposition from MPs and a good number of leaders allied to the opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

However, speaking on Tuesday, the former presidential aspirant called for calm, saying that his camp knows the people behind the frustrations and is ready to take them head-on.

"Don't worry. We will take them head-on. We know where the instructions to frustrate #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 is coming from," he said, in response to one Nyambura Ndung'u.

The constitutional lawyer has since begun taking the bill to county assemblies for possible approval, after a green light by the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission (IEBC).

He on Tuesday presented it before Murang'a and Embu Members of County Assembly (MCAs), days after his tour of Nakuru, and needs approvals from at least 24 counties.

Should he achieve that, the bill will be given consideration whether or not the upper parliaments; National Assembly and Senate pass it or not.
