Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi argued that the offices of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) should be left to do their work without any political interference.

He said anyone who engages in corruption dealings should face the full force of the law.

"The ongoing arrests of leaders engaging in corruption is a good sign that graft will come to an end. As political leaders, there is a need for us to stop politicising the matter. Let those who have stolen carry their own cross," said Maangi.

The vocal deputy governor noted that corruption has derailed the growth of the country's economy as well as development.

Maangi appealed to elected Members of Parliament (MPs) from Gusii region to utilise public funds wisely to initiate and fund various development projects in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

"MPs from the Gusii community should be good ambassadors of development by using public funds in the CDF kitty well," he stated.

The DG was speaking on Sunday at the St John's Obwari Catholic Church in North Mugirango Constituency, Nyamira County where he attended a church service.
