Makadara MP George Aladwa has been bashed following his remarks, that he will not be reading the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report.
In an interview on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi on Saturday, Aladwa said he will instead rely on advise from ODM leader Raila Odinga, regarding the side to take on the BBI.
His remarks were not taken well by his fellow panelist and lawyer Brian Weke, who noted that such remarks should not be coming from an educated and elected Member of Parliament.
Weke noted that there is need for the MP to read the document, not necessarily for himself, but for the sake of his constituents, so that he can advise them to make the right decision.
"Aladwa is wrong. He should also read it for himself, that's why he was taken to school. (Aladwa hajasema vizuri eti Raila atamsomea, pia yeye ajisomee, ndio maana alipelekwa shule)," Weke said.
Political analyst and youth affairs activist Ruth Ambogo, who was also present, said such an attitude can easily result in partial reading and understanding of the document.
She noted that when left for others to read on one's behalf, chances are that Raila will only communicate what is good for him as a senior politician.
"When you say Raila will read it for you, maybe he will only read the section where his interests are, so who will read the part concerning issues to do with Kenyans? (Unaposema Raila atakusomea labda atakusomea tu pale interest zake ziko na zile vitu zunahusu wakenya nani atasoma?)," she posed.
