Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Cotu) Secretary-General Francis Atwoli has faulted governors of the stalemate on the Division of Revenue Bill.
Speaking during the burial of Kenya Engineering Workers Union official Fredrick Odindo, in Rageng’ni, Siaya County, on Saturday, Atwoli said that it does make sense for governors to continue demanding for more funds when most of them cannot even pass integrity tests.
He said that is unfortunate that governors are demanding additional funds Sh19 billion yet it is evident that they cannot manage the Sh316 billion that the National Assembly approved.
“It is unfortunate that the county chiefs are demanding more money while we know that only a handful can pass the integrity test,” he said, as Daily Nation.
Atwoli asked the county bosses to consult President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is completing his second and final term so that they can end the stalemate.
He said that there have been emerging cracks between MPs, senators, and governors.“The emerging divisions between the governors, senators, and Members of Parliament is not healthy,” he said.
Governors have been faulting National Assembly over the delayed approval of funds to support their activities at the county governments.
Atwoli said that the leaders are now painting a bad name in the public domain.
