Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has explained why he won't heed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) MP Otiende Amollo's invitation for leaders to share their views on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking on Tuesday on NTV's AM Live show during a wide-ranging panel discussion, the outspoken politician rattled off reasons why he won't comment on BBI.
He contended that he did not know what it was all about and that members of the initiative's committee were unknown to him.
"My brother Amollo is inviting us to comment on BBI. Amollo we cannot because a) We do not know what is BBI, b) the composition of BBI is so unknown to us," he said.
Khalwale said that he would only share his perspective on the BBI once it becomes clear what it is all about.
He rejected the idea that he was opposing the initiative because he had been asked by Deputy President Dr William Ruto had asked him to do so.
Ruto's allies have, by and large, expressed varying levels of opposition to the BBI with Rift Valley leaders claiming that they were not afforded the opportunity to make their contributions.
The initiative's committee traversed the 47 counties as they sought the views of Kenyans and retreated a few weeks ago to compile a report on their findings.
