Political analyst Herman Manyora has blamed President Uhuru Kenyatta's silence for the nation's current political woes.
The head of state has been largely silent on among other things, the worsening fights within the ruling Jubilee Party.
Manyora now argues that Uhuru's indifference is to blame for the same, and now wants him to come out and stamp authority and prove that he is still in charge, as he currently appears absent.
Speaking on NTV's AM Live on Monday morning, he argued that Uhuru currently seems like a lame duck president and aspect which his party and government members are fully utilizing.
"The feeling in this country is that the President is not in charge; he may be in charge but its all about perception. A country should never be made to feel like there is a gap somewhere, let people see that he is breathing," he said.
This comes amid a heating succession debate in the Mt Kenya region where the president comes from, with some politicians already negotiating the region's direction in 2022.
In government, some Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries have been involved in exchanges with DP Ruto, including Trade CS Peter Munya.
Ruto's allies have as well been accused of engaging in early campaigns without considering that the nation still has a president who is only two years into his second term.
