Kenyan social media users on Thursday expressed mixed reactions after the ruling on Joseph Irungu's bail application was pushed to February 13, 2020.
Mr. Irungu alias Jowie is a suspect in the murder of the late businesswoman Monica Kimani.
Kenyan netizens were divided on the subject with some supporting the postponement while others opposing it.
A section of the Kenyans on Twitter opposed the decision by Justice James Wakiaga to have the case resume next year terming it as unfair.
The netizens argued that it was unfair for his co-accused Jacque Maribe to be granted bail while he is denied.
Some went ahead to question the manner in which Jowie's bail applications have been handled in court. Jowie's previous bail application had been turned down on the grounds that he might disappear.
A number of the netizens nonetheless supported the idea of Jowie remaining in prison. They claimed that Jowie could pose a threat to the witnesses in the case and consequently interfere with the case.
They added that unlike Maribe, very little is known about Jowie and therefore it would be hard to trace him in the event that he disappears after being released on bail.
Jowie was arrested in September last year. He has been in prison since then. Justice James Wakiaga on Thursday ruled that all protected witnesses should testify before Jowie's bail application is heard.
