Speaking on Wednesday during the launch of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report at the Bomas Of Kenya, the Head of State confessed being aware that a lot of money was used in the campaigns to sway the voters and agents.

He said one of his campaigners told him that money had been poured for the campaign, in a race where Uhuru's ruling Jubilee Party fronted soccer star McDonald Mariga.

The president left the crowd at Bomas in stitches when he said so much money was in flow that locals were basking in meat using campaign money, and were not amused when the campaign season came to an end.

"I called my campaigner in Kibra to ask her how things were in Kibra; she said everything was alright but she wanted the campaigns to go on for another two weeks so that they could enjoy the handouts. (Akasema tuko sawa akasema hapa Kibra ni kilio tu..nikamuuliza kuna shida gani.. akasema jamani mngeruhusu hii campaign iendelee tukule mambo huku)," he said.

"The next day I called and asked how things were, she told me the aroma of fish had filled the area, adding that they were used to meat, during the campaign season, but unfortunately it was now over. (Kesho yake nikampigia simu akanijulisha hali ilivyo huko. Akasema sahi kuna harufu ya samaki kwa sababu mbeleni walikuwa na harufu ya nyama)," the president said the campaigner told him in a phone conversation.

In the course of the campaigns, Jubilee Party was heavily accused of dishing handouts to voters, with ODM party coming out to encourage locals to enjoy the money.
