Residents of Eronge village in Ngokoro, Marani in Kisii County are mourning the death of a man who died after he collapsed and died mysteriously after receiving news that his daughter-in-law fled from home with a cow he has been milking.
Area assistant chief Nyabega Gisore said Zablon Machoni has been depending on milk produced by the cow which the daughter-in-law, Agnes Marinda took away.
The chief said Machoni was sick when he received the sad news from his wife.
"Machoni collapsed after his wife informed him that Marinda disagreed with her husband before she decided to take along the cow with her after she disagreed with her husband," said the chief.
Kisii commander Martin Kibet said efforts by neighbours to rush the man to Marani hospital could not yield fruits since the man died on arrival at the hospital.
"The deceased bod was moved to Kisii Teaching and referral hospital waiting for burial. The probe has commenced establishing whether the deceased daughter-in-law was the real owner of the cow, or she might have decided to desert the family" noted Kibet.
He encouraged couples to solve marital differences using peaceful means and seek guidance from elders and church members.
