Controversial singer-cum-business woman Esther Akoth alias Akothee has been forced to come clear why she 'exaggerated' entry charges at her recent show held in Malindi.
Akothee on Saturday performed at her friends' Roberto and Massimo's birthday party which was held at the Coast, in Malindi town.
The singer in a number of social media posts had advertised the event where she said seats were reserved for Ksh20,000.
"Levels my friend🎸😍 , pull this one we see don't say I didn't' invite you call for your reservations limited seats, payments must be done on or before 6th deadline is tomorrow👉👉☎ 0702999566/ ☎0770206500 @kililibahariniresort ALL WHITE EXCLUSIVE PARTY," read one of the adverts she had shared.
Days later after the party, Akothee took it on Instagram where she compared herself to the Pop legend, Michael Jackson, for performing to a limited audience.
"In history, it's only me and Michael Jackson that has performed for one person! I am honoured I feel blessed! See my crowed jamming on a full band with stage and sound for 10, 000 people! Say something," she said
However, one of his curious fans 'attacked' the singer for setting seat reservation fee or rather entry fee too high for people.
According to the fan named Talaa Cherotich, high charges by Akothee locked out the singer's fans.
"I thought you advertised the event for 20k but not many people came ama ? 20k is not a lot of money for most middle-class Kenyans so wacha kuringa sana (do not brag so much)," Cherotich reacted to Akothee's post.
Reacting to his post, Akothee said the Sh20,000 she had advertised earlier was just but a mockery fee for formality, adding that those who wanted to reserve the seats were told they were fully booked.
"@talaacherotich 🤣😂🤣😂 that was a mock it's someone's birthday he paid for it I am sure if you called you were told it's all sold out 🤣😂," she reacted.
Roberto and Massimo who are Akothee's long-time friends share a birthday.
She said, "Roberto has been the main supporter of Turkana as a destination".
