Deputy President William Ruto has again denied claims that the ruling Jubilee Party is a divided house.
This has been the perceived situation lately, judging by the growing rift and hostility being witnessed between forces allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta and the DP.
But speaking when he visited Nakuru and Baringo counties on Saturday, the DP rubbished the allegations, saying that they are claims being spread by opponents of Jubilee.
Ruto who launched development projects in the two counties was quoted by the Standard saying; "Jubilee is united under President Kenyatta and there are no factions. Those advancing that story are our opponents and will be defeated,."
He was accompanied by a section of his allies, among them Water Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and Baringo governor Stanley Kiptis.
But his remarks come at a time when the party appears divided down the middle, with members associating themselves with the rival Kieleweke and Tangatanga factions.
Such has openly played out in Kibra, where politicians allied to Uhuru have been seen campaigning for an ODM candidate, despite Jubilee fielding McDonald Mariga.
The said rivalry between the Uhuru and Ruto factions can be traced to March 2018, when Uhuru reached a truce with ODM leader Raila Odinga, which was not taken well by Ruto allies.
While Raila has been seen campaigning for his candidate Imran Okoth, Uhuru, the Jubilee Party leader, has not done the same for the candidate widely considered a Ruto project.
