Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi has lamented the stringent rules Safaricom applies to Somali M-Pesa users.
In a tweet on Friday afternoon, the lawyer wondered why M-Pesa rules are based on a tribal basis.
''Safaricom has different rules/regulations for different MPESA dealers according to TRIBE. Somali dealers are subject to the most STRINGENT regulations and their dealerships are CLOSED on most SPURIOUS GROUNDS,'' said Ahmednassir Abdullahi.
Ahmednassir who is of the Somali origin has on a number of occasions been protecting harassment on his fellow Somali people in the country.
Safaricom is the leading telecommunication company in the country.
It has various wings that help it generate income, making it the leading company in Kenya.
One of the leading income-generating wings is the M-Pesa. Use of M-Pesa has made the company beat all its competitions as millions of people across the country and even outside the country makes transactions using M-Pesa.
Somali people have ventured a lot in business and have moved and settled in various parts of the country.
However, most of them live in Garissa where they involve in various business activities.
Other are based in various cities and busy towns across the nation. There common mode of livelihood is engaging in business activities.
