The Nairobi women rep Esther Passaris has shared her perspective on how the country can win the war on corruption. Posting on Twitter on Thursday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) legislator held the view that the only way to win the war on graft is through rallying behind the president.

She also urged the people of Kenya to exercise responsibility as she railed against what she described as diversionary politics.

"We will slay this dragon called corruption. I honestly believe so. Let us all be responsible & take ownership of our country. We have to support our President @StateHouseKenya There are no two ways about it. This constant divisionary politics is not of or from God. #onekenya, " read the tweet by Passaris.

At the same time, she got a backlash response from one Waziri who insinuated that corruption is here to stay.

"That will be treating the symptoms instead of the disease..Police guys have changed tactics, they pick the money via other guys who intern get a cut. When an @EACCKenya guys arrest the cops, wanatoa 200K na hiyo story inatulia..its a jungle," read Waziri's tweet

Her intervention comes amid a raging war on corruption that has seen high profile individuals arrested and charges pressed against them. The latest casualty in that anti-corruption drive is Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko who faces an array of corruption related charges.

He has denied the charges against him saying that they are politically motivated.

Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu and Samburu governor Moses Lenolkulal are also facing corruption charges and have been asked not to step into their offices until their cases are heard and determined.

Corruption has been cited as one of the biggest hurdles that Kenya faces in its development agenda. President Uhuru has vowed to fight those who engage in the vice.
