While the meeting between opposition leader Raila Odinga and a section of Gusii leaders on Wednesday is not a big deal, the presence of two Jubilee leaders has raised eyebrows.

Mr Odinga held talks with the leaders under the stewardship of Governors John Nyagarama and James Ongwae, with politics taking center stage.

"Together with my colleagues, we discussed the current political dispensation with Prime Minister Raila Odinga," said Kisii Woman Representative Janet Ong'era.

National Assembly Deputy Majority Leader Jimmy Angwenyi and Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama attended the all important meeting at Capitol Hill.

Notably, the two have been harsh critics of Mr Odinga. On Tuesday, Arama insisted that Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i is ready to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I want to assure you that Matiang'i has what it takes to be our president. We need to support him so that as a community we realise the dream," he said.

Jubilee Youth Leader Bernard Mogaka dismissed the presence of the two leaders, arguing that they have nothing to offer to DP William Ruto's camp.

"Let them go. We still have over eight MPs who are very influential supporting the DP. We wish the well in their next destination," he said on phone.

But Brian Mamboleo, a close ally of Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i, said the two will be influential in pushing for BBI referendum.

"You cannot dismiss such experienced leaders. They are a big asset to handshake politics and it's a good catch for Uhuru and Raila," he said.

Others who attended the meeting were Prof Sam Ongeri, Janet Ong'era, Simba Arati, Richard Onyonka, John Nyagarama and James Ongwae.
