Embattled Bishop David Ngari alias Gakuyo, the general overseer of the Calvary Chosen Centre, has weighed in on the ongoing Ekeza SACCO controversy that he has long been embroiled up in.
Speaking on Sunday in an Akorino forum, the renowned Kiambu-based televangelist and politician rejected rumours being peddled in some quarters that he called on President Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene in his troubles by helping him do away with his debts.
"The debts that Ekeza has will be paid and the payment of debts is ongoing. But there is one thing I want to tell you something, I have never asked Uhuru to help me clear the Ekeza debts. (Koguo dhire wa Ekeza no turathie na bere na kureha no tuguthie nabere na kucukeria adu besa. No kwena odo omoe dereda kumuira, nie dire dera President Uhuru ati adeithie ati dhire wa Ekeza wehera.), " Bishop Ngari said.
He said that he would sell the properties owned by the Ekeza SACCO so as to get the money to pay members who are owed.
The Commissioner of Cooperatives Mary Mungai recommended for the liquidation of the SACCO, saying that it no longer had the capacity to dispense its duties to the members.
Its accounts were closed as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) launched investigations into the incapacity of the cooperative society to service its debts.
