Renowned activist Boniface Mwangi has fired tough questions about the task force that was forced in 2019 to bring sanity to the bodaboda sector.
In a barbed tweet on Thursday, the controversial activist claimed that the no work had been done by the task force.
"President Uhuru formed a task force to look on how to bring sanity on Boda Bodas,he appointed a qualified taskforce that has been sabotaged by @InteriorKE @TransportKE. Almost a year later, zero work is done, " Boniface Mwangi tweet read.
The committee which was formed with the express view of streamlining operations in the boda boda sector had 13 members and was chaired by Julius Mathenge.
Other members of the committee when it was formed were Martin Eshiwani, Njeri Waithaka, Nick Korir, Lucy Karume, Lydia Mambo, Michael Kimani, Kevin Mubadi, Kennedy Odhiambo Okong’o, Joseph Agingu, Thomas Ogutu and Tom Machari.
The tweet comes after one twitter user told of a bodaboada rider that was killed on one of the Nairobi Highways.
Part of the mandate of the task force, according to a gazette notice, was to come up with regulations to govern the sector and the fares that operators should charge.
“The task force will evaluate the market environment for operation of public service motorcycle business, including its challenges. It will also undertake any other activities required for the effective discharge of its mandate,” the gazette notice reads as quoted by a past Daily Nation report.
