Locals claimed that the officer must be sacked, arrested and arraigned in court for embezzling public funds.

"Omanwa must be sacked and be taken to court immediately. How can he erect a structure claiming it is worth Sh32 million yet the structure is about worth Sh5 million?

"It is time Nyagarama should act and ensure corrupt officers in his government are sent home," lamented Samuel Chagara on Saturday in Nyamira town.

Geoffrey Oimeke condemned the officer for engaging in corruption related desks.

"There will be no development in Nyamira County if Governor Nyagarama's executive members will continue engaging in corruption.

"Omanwa must be sacked and taken to court to serve as an example to others with intentions to misuse public funds," he said.

Mr. Omanwa is said to have erected the timber house to be used as public works offices as it awaits a permanent structure to bee set elsewhere at a cost of Sh32 million.
