Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui on Monday announced the reshuffling of his cabinet.
The governor has now moved Roads executive Eng Lucy Kariuki to the Department of Youth, Gender, Culture, Sports and Social Services.
Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) had threatened to impeach her before the governor made the changes to his team.
According to communications director Beatrice Obwocha, Kinyanjui decided to shift Eng Kariuki as a way of improving her efficiency amid fierce criticism from rivals.
She is now expected to take over the docket which was being held by Finance Executive Peter Ketyenyal in an acting capacity.
Deputy Governor Eric Korir is expected to take over the Roads docket in the acting capacity before the county boss names another officer to take charge of the same later on.
The MCAs had planned to impeach Eng Kariuki on Thursday but the scheme failed after they differed over the voting procedure.
The lawmakers had vowed to reintroduce the censure motion on Tuesday before the county boss swung into action. Speaker Joel Maina Kairu was compelled to adjourn the sitting after chaos erupted in the House.
The MCAs have been accusing Eng Kariuki of incompetence and they want her kicked out of the office with immediate effect.
On her part, Eng Kariuki has faulted them for what she terms as a political witchhunt.
