Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday announced that he will ensure that the county officials who approved the construction of the killer building at the Precious Talent Primary School Nairobi are fired.
The governor also pledged to pay for all the funeral expenses of the victims of the tragedy as detectives embark on a probe.
“I wish to assure all residents of Nairobi that I will not leave any stone unturned until we reverse the effects of the impunity that was spearheaded by the Planning Department. Those found guilty will also be charged in court,” said the Governor.
He also said that he is saddened by the twist of events that led to the death of the students.
Sonko said that the management of the school is partly to blame for the collapse of the building, which led to the deaths of eight children and leaving 64 others with injuries.
Sonko has pointed an accusing finger at city hall officials for being corrupt after the incident. He said that had it not been for the carelessness of the officials, no death could have been reported in connection with the collapse of the building in question.
Concerned parties have already recorded a statement with the police.
