Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga and his brigade have embraced a new strategy which they seek to ride on in a bid retain the Kibra parliamentary seat.
For the 30 years, he has had a grip on the constituency, which he previously represented, Raila has been more of the idea of using open rallies and mass gatherings to drum up support.
However, his team has now adopted a new strategy which includes door to door campaigns, as they seek to directly reach out to the people and possibly convince them.
This, according to the Nation, is a technique embraced to beat Jubilee Party candidate MacDonald Mariga who was on Wednesday endorsed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
ODM Director of Elections Junet Mohammed confirmed the same on Sunday.
“This time we are going from door to door. We have left rallies to Owalo (ANC candidate) and Mudavadi,” the Suna East MP was quoted by Nation.
He said contrary to initial plans where the party was to hold a rally at the DC's Grounds, the same has been cancelled and the group will be engaging people in churches.
“Today we are going to all the SDA Churches in Kibra to talk to the people on the need for peaceful campaigns and elections, which has always been the hallmark of ODM’s philosophy," noted the vocal leader.
The party has so far received a notable amount of support from leaders allied to the Jubilee side, led by Nominated MP Maina Kamanda.
The seat fell vacant following the death of Ken Okoth, Imran's younger brother, in July.
