The event will be held on Saturday, 20th, July 2019 at St. Teresa’s Girls Secondary School Grounds, Kisumu adjacent to the Cathedral Church.

According to a post on the Catholic Archdiocese of Kisumu facebook page, the Pallium is a white woolen strip, worn around the Archbishop’s neck, which symbolizes the bond between an Archbishop and the Pope.

“The formal investiture will be conducted by the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya, His Excellency Archbishop Hubertus Mathews Maria van Megan, in presence of bishops and representatives from the suffragan dioceses in the ecclesiastical province of Kisumu,” reads part of the message.

The Holy Father Pope Francis appointed Reverend Philip A. Anyolo as the Archbishop of Kisumu on November 14, 2018. He was installed as Archbishop of Kisumu in January this year, in a ceremony attended by Deputy President William Ruto and ODM Party leader Raila Odinga among others.

Previously, Anyolo served as the Bishop of Kericho since December 6, 1995 when the Late St. John Paul II appointed him Bishop and was consecrated on February 3, 1996.

He was later appointed Bishop of Homabay on March 22, 2003 by the Late St. John Paul II and installed on May 23, 2003, where he was until his appointment to be the Metropolitan Archbishop of Kisumu.
