Mr Mandago was facing stiff competition from businessman Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki, who was by then enjoying support from Deputy President William Ruto albeit secretly.

On Friday in Turkana, Mandago dismissed assertions by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed that he had an opportunity to present views to BBI team, arguing that he was not aware when they visited Eldoret.

The second term county boss argued that in the history of Kenya, it's only him who was endorsed by Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta, then top presidential candidates.

"Let Lodwar issues be handled by Turkana people. Residents have passed through a lot of issues, you can't understand them. I want to tell Junet that I wasn't interviewed about BBI.

"I am not a featherweight in politics. I am the only governor who was endorsed by Prime Minister Raila Odinga and H. E Uhuru Kenyatta. You're a very small person and you should to purport to play my league. Do you think a person being endorsed by two heavyweights should be ignored?" he asked.

While Uhuru's support was automatic given that they belong to Jubilee, Mr Odinga surprised residents when he asked them to for for Mr Mandago.

Earlier, Mandago had blasted Junet, a close ally of Mr Odinga, of giving Lodwar residents false information about the status of infrastructure in the region.

"Let those who took oath talk but as their handlers, you should keep quiet. The road from Kitale to Lodwar is being worked on. The problem with Junet is that he's using helicopter. Please Hon Odinga, allow me to drive him on road today," he said.

But Mr Odinga told Mandago off, insisting that the BBI team pitched tent in Eldoret, adding that 'he was not aware where Mandago had slept that day'.
