A 66 year old woman has been charged with being in possession of bhang in Kangundo, Machakos County.
Mary Mutindi was on Monday fined Sh50,000 by Kangundo Law Court or face a twelve month imprisonment for being in possession of bhang.
The accused who appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Desderious Orimba pleaded guilty to the charges leveled against her.
The prosecution told the court that the accused was arrested on December 21, 2017 at Lia Itune area in Kangundo, Machakos County.
In Mitigation the accused pleaded for leniency claiming the bhang didn't belong to her but to someone else.
She told the court that someone gave her the bhang to hold and run away.
The Court considered her plea and fined her Sh50,000 or be imprisoned for one year.
In the same court John Muisyo was released on Sh50,000 bond for assaulting his wife.
The accused pleaded not guilty of causing grievous harm to his wife Mary Kiilu.
The court heard that the accused committed the act on February 11, 2018 at Kathaana area in Kangundo, Machakos County.
The case is set for mention on 25th February 2018.
