The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate in the Kibra parliamentary race Imran Okoth has alerted his supporters of a fake account that he says is tweeting falsehoods in his name.
He expressed strong condemnation for the tweets emanating from the account, saying that his allegiance to the ODM party and veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga was unshakable.
"My attention has been drawn to a twitter handle, @imran_okoth purporting to be me, that is tweeting falsehoods in my name. I strongly condemn the tweets from that account. I would like to reaffirm my commitment to ODM and to our Party Leader @RailaOdinga, " Imran Okoth tweeted.
The ODM candidate in the Kibra parliamentary race said that he was working to ensure that his account is verified as soon as possible.
The fake account is littered with tweets purporting to suggest that Imran has ditched ODM and is in support of the governing Jubilee candidate former Harambee Stars forward McDonald Mariga.
"Please note that this is my official Twitter handle and I am working to ensure that my account gets verified. On 7th November, please come out and vote for Benard Otieno Okoth. #mbelepamoja, " he added.
Residents of Kibra will cast their ballots on 7, November to determine who will be their next member of parliament.
