The artistes who on Saturday converged at the Nairobi Film Center (Nairobi Cinema) for prayers, said time has come to change the tide and focus on content that will market Kenya positively.

"We fully support the clean content campaign being spearhead by the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) and we are going to walk with the board as it champions for moral values, talent identification and nurturing, " KCCAA Vice chairperson Veronica Mwaura said.

Mwaura said moving forward, artistes will speak in one voice and reject attempts to be used to influence the society negatively.

Speaking at the event, KFCB Chief Executive Officer, Dr Ezekiel Mutua, who was the chief guest, hailed the artistes for organising the event which he said was timely and will revolutionise the creative industry positively.

The CEO pledged KFCB’s support to the creatives, noting that the board is revamping the Nairobi Film Center to create space for the artistes to showcase their talents for job creation in line with the presidential Big Four Agenda.

While urging the artistes to focus on clean content and remain true to their calling of influencing the society positively, Dr Mutua revealed that plans are under way to establish a 'Wall of Fame' at the NFC to recognize and honor Kenyan creatives.

"There is money in clean content, most prominent and successful people across the world are from the creative arts, entertainment and talent based sectors,'' the KFCB CEO added.

Dr Mutua said KFCB is keen to promote youth talents and is partnering with the Ministry of Education (MoE) in the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival (KNDFF).

Renowned comedians, artistes, thespians and media personalities among them Walter Mong'are alias Nyambane and Mdomo Baggy were present at the event.
