The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the date for Kibra Constituency by-elections.
In a tweet on Monday, the elections body revealed the date for a by-election after the death of former Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
"Following the Declaration of Vacancy in the office of Member of the National Assembly for Kibra Constituency vide a letter from the National Assembly Speaker received on Wednesday,14th August, 2019, there shall be a by-election for Kibra Constituency on Monday, 7th November, 2019," reads part of a Gazette notice by said IEBC.
The seat fell vacant after the death of the former Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth, who lost the battle to cancer.
IEBC has given all political parties intending to take part in the Kibra by-elections up to August 26, 2019 to submit names of their intended candidates to take part in their party nominations.
The IEBC revealed that the nominations will take place on September 9 and 10, 2019.
It also pointed out that campaigns for the same will take place on September 9 and cease on November 4, 2019.
This is just 48 hours before the actual polls take off.
“Campaign time shall run from 7 am to 6 pm during the campaign period,” said IEBC as quoted by Citizen.
