Cherangany Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny has urged Deputy President Dr William Ruto to suspend his weekend fundraisers for at least two years.
Speaking on Sunday, the Kieleweke legislator claimed that the deputy president was using donating 50 million shillings every week and 200 million monthly in fundraisers.
"I want to tell them to urge their man to suspend his fundraisers every Sunday because I hear he is using 50 million every week and 200 million every month."
"(Na mimi nataka pia kuomba hawa wamwambie huyo mtu wao ya kwamba awache maneno ya Harambee ya kila Jumapili kwa miaka mbili kwa sababu nasikia kwa kila wiki anatumia 50 million, kwa mwezi anatumia milioni mia mbili)," the Cherangany legislator said.
The deputy president's huge contributions have been a source of contention in the political circles.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) politicians had threatened to introduce a bill that will put a ceiling on the amount of money that politicians can donate to religious institutions, with some capping the amount at 100 million.
He has maintained that he will continue contributing to churches in the country and no amount of criticism will stop him fro doing so.
The donations have opened him up to public scrutiny about the source of his wealth.
His detractors contend that the donations come from corruption, a charge that the DP has strongly rejected.
