Mandera governor Ali Roba now says that the President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga union is becoming a headache for the ruling Jubilee Party.
This comes only hours after Deputy President William Ruto claimed that Jubilee secretary general Raphael Tuju is working too closely with the opposition block.
Speaking on Monday, Roba found the remarks puzzling, stressing on the need for Uhuru to draw the line and not let their union encroach into the party issues.
He added that as much as they as Jubilee Party members support the handshake, there is a need for Jubilee to remain intact and not be affected by their issues.
"We support the partnership between President Uhuru and Raila Odinga, however, a political party is a political party. It is puzzling to be termed as the chief strategist of another party when you belong to another party," he Roba said on Citizen TV's Day Break show on Monday.
He also acknowledged that zones associated with Raila have been receiving a sudden increase in goodies lately, a year and four months after the handshake.
However, the county boss stressed on the need for that not to be pegged on the truce, observing that its well within the rights of the people to be served by the government of the day.
"ODM regions ought to have received development regardless of the party affiliations they had in the past. What is happening now via the handshake is their right and not a privilege," he noted.
The handshake has seen Uhuru and Raila come closer, in a setup that has seen Ruto slightly sidelined.
