Addressing the media in Kisii town on Tuesday, Marwa urged those undergoing depression, especially in marriages to seek counselling from specialists.

"Suicide is not the solution to a problem. I request those people who are going through tough challenges in families to seek help especially from public hospitals which are equipped with specialised counsellors," advised Marwa.

"Don't Kill yourself. Even if you kill yourself today, the problem will still continue in your family. Even if you are divorced or dumped by your partner, there is a life tomorrow. Young Girls and boys should know this. Gain the courage, gather yourself and move on," she added.

Marwa called upon men to avoid dying with depression and instead they should come out and seek help.

Several cases of suicide have been reported in Kisii county of late with a recent one being a 25-year-old man who hanged himself in his house at Mwamokuria village in Riana location, Bonchari constituency.

The reason why the man ended his life prematurely has not yet been revealed.

According to Wikipedia, World Suicide Prevention Day is an awareness day observed on 10th  September every year, in order to provide worldwide commitment and action to prevent suicides.
