Through a statement shared on social media on Wednesday, the lawmaker argued a number of civilians are dying silently citing several examples.

According to Waruguru, cancer has just claimed the life of Former Transport and Licensing Board Chairman Hassan Ole Kamwaro who was battling with throat cancer in the United States(US).

She further revealed Elizabeth Wangeci of Nanyuki Cancer Support passed on last week due to cancer and Mr Kiboi of the Nanyuki Cancer Support succumbed to the same on Monday.

"Remember the man who hanged himself in Laikipia after cancer diagnosis turned positive? That's the extent cancer has infiltrated society. How many more people do you know are dying of cancer around us yet some senior officials related to Health are politicking with Waruguru Cancer Bill?" she questioned

Waruguru noted "quote senior official in The Ministry of Health that Government data of cancer patients and deaths do not justify the delay in declaring cancer a national disaster".

She, therefore, urged that government make cancer treatment free and it tests too.

This comes barely weeks after cancer claims the lives of prominent leaders in Kenyan. Former Bomet governor Joice Laboso, former Kibra Mp Ken Okoth and former Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore among others died of cancer.
