This comes amid increasing calls from forces allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta for amendments that will result in a wider and more inclusive executive.

However, the proposal has been opposed by allies of Deputy President William Ruto, who have vowed to fight and crush it, terming it a plan to satisfy a few political losers.

But in a tweet Sunday, the close ally of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Ruto's sworn rival, noted that Ruto will not stop the changes, and that they will do it as they please.

He said  that the DP and his allies can embark on a campaign against it, but noted that he will at the end of the day be the loser, whatever the outcome is, terming him "damned".

"To my friend William Ruto and co.... We shall change the constitution in the way we want. Prepare for your NO Vote. But please be prepared for the consequences whichever direction of the vote. #DamnedEitherWay" he wrote.

The pro-referendum side is banking on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) taskforce report which is expected to be out by October, to rubberstamp its proposals.
