The latter on Wednesday reaffirmed his interest to participate in the 2022 elections, after 10 years of being in the opposition after the lapse of the grand coalition government in 2013.

According to the Standard, plans are underway in his camp to register a new party dubbed One Kenya Movement (OKM) on whose ticket he will be seeking the top seat.

About his 2022 presidential ambitions, the leader says that he is also already laying the ground for his candidature, terming himself a front runner and possible winner in the race.

“I will not just be a candidate but a formidable candidate,” said Kalonzo in an interview with KTN's Point Blank show.

The declaration is, however, likely to see him face off with among others, Deputy President William Ruto who is also a very strong contestant.

Musyoka also took the opportunity to question Ruto's growing appetite for fundraisers, taking issues with his remarks that he is giving as a means of investing in heaven.

He reminded the DP that God cannot be bribed with money, adding that as much as he is right to give, it should be out of goodwill and good intentions and not a political showoff.

"God is not destitute. God cannot be bribed. This is not showmanship," he added.

Ruto has, however, insisted that no amount of criticism will derail him from helping churches and other institutions to grow.
