A man from Gatundu in Kiambu county was left speechless after receiving a winning message from betting firm OdiBets, notifying him of a win he had scored after placing a bet.
Titus Kioi Muruga, a clearing and forwarding agent, was forced to park his car by the roadside to come to terms with the call details, where he was told that he had won himself Sh469, 899.
This was the benefit he was dealing after placing an 8-team multi-bet using a Sh1,000 stake on OdiBets and now says that the call left him shaking and unable to proceed with his journey to the airport in Nairobi.
Addressing the press at the OdiBets head office in Nairobi on Monday, after receiving his cheque, Mr Muruga confessed that the call caught him by surprise.
"I received the call when I was along Mombasa Road and everything in me started shaking. I was forced to pack my car for a while, I could not drive. I was so overwhelmed," he said.
Mr Muruga added that he plans to keep the money for at least three months as he plans how to spend it, adding that he will keep betting on OdiBets as he eyes a bigger win.
"Thank you so much to OdiBets for this win. I will continue betting as I hope to win millions," he added, in the presence of the firm's Country Marketing Manager Aggrey Sayi.
