Telkom CEO Mugo Kibati has announced the proposed merger is still intact despite the investigations by the anti-graft body.

He noted that the ongoing probe by the sleuths from EACC has nothing to do with the process of merging the two companies in the near future.

He also exuded confidence that the merger will take place before the end of the year.

Kibati, however, dismissed allegations that the process was expected to be complete before the end of the month of August.

He also said that both firms have nothing against the process of probing them.

“We welcome the current investigations and willing to cooperate with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. I would also like to state that none of our managers to the best of my knowledge is being investigated,” he said, as quoted by Standard.

Kibati also said that the probe came after a recommendation from parliament. He further urged different stakeholders to support the union of the two firms for better service delivery.

The CEO noted that there is no plan to block the truth from coming out at the end of the day, adding that it will contribute to the growth of the firms in different ways.

EACC spokesman Yassin Amaro has confirmed the probe into the matter.
