Garissa Woman Representative Anab Subow Gure has condemned the move by County Commander Alfred Angeng'o to withdraw administration police officers from Galmagala area.
In a statement posted on her Facebook page on Thursday evening, Gure wondered why the police boss issued the directive.
According to the woman rep, the people of Galmagala are equally entitled to security services just like everyone else in Garissa county.
“It’s so devastating when matters security are taken with less consideration and less urgency depending on how prone some areas are to insecurity," she said in part.
The administration police officers from Galmagala were redeployed to Mansabubu, a move that has triggered mixed reactions among locals.
"Whereas Mansabubu also needs security, it is unwise for the government to withdraw security forces from an area which has for long had insecurity cases and deploy them to a less-volatile area. This is what is called structural violence aimed at undermining any community from any development," said Gure.
“Doctors, teachers and other civil servants are contemplating to flee that area because of the drastic move by the government. It’s sad that action has been taken at a time when teachers and our children are going back to school. My people are going nowhere; they’re there to stay and the government must provide their security," she added.
Gure claimed that there is an attempt to ignore some areas in terms of security provision and further directed the relevant security agencies to respond to her statement within 48 hours.
