New Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has hailed his side Stirling performance against their fierce rivals Chelsea after his side secured a point despite being reduced to 10 men.
Speaking on Tuesday after the London derby, the gunners boss said he is optimistic his side will finish in top four at the end of the season noting that his side was showing some improvement.
‘Time will tell but at least I saw a reaction and all I demand of them is do not give up and keep playing with the spirit,’ Arteta noted.
Arteta who singled out Martinelli performance further lauded the team spirit his players showed after one of their players was sent off.
‘I am so proud of the team, how they reacted, how they step up when a team-mate makes a mistake and that is what they did, all of them," he added.
His appraisal comes after his side endured attacking spirit staged by Chelsea players after Arsenal were reduced to 10 players.
Arsenal managed to salvage a point at Stamford Bridge despite being disadvantaged after David Luiz was sent off after a rough tackle on Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham.
Arteta's side had to stage two dramatic comebacks with Gabriel Martinelli and Hector Bellerin scoring the goals for the gunners' side.
Jorgino and Club's captain Cesar Azpilicueta scored the goals for Lampard's Chelsea.
