Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula now says that the Luhya region is united, hinting that himself and ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi are in good political terms.
The two have for a long time been seen as battling for the Luhya kingpin slot, in a region that has been under discussion for a long time over alleged inability to vote as a block.
But Wetangula on Saturday said that the same is not the case, though he admitted that some leaders from other regions are out to breach the unity being enjoyed in Western Kenya.
The Ford Kenya boss stated that the fact that he and Mudavadi shared the same car to Kegoye village in Vihiga, for the burial of James Bugutsa, is a confirmation of the unity.
"Our people should not allow leaders from outside to divide us. Luhyia leaders are fully united. If that was not true, Musalia and I wouldn't have come here using the same car," he said.
Among those ready to breach the unity, he said, is COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli, who he claimed is hawking the region to outsiders for his selfish needs.
He added that the trade unionist is working with other people, who according to the senator, are funding him.
"Atwoli is a man looking for relevance and attention and every time he plays his games, he has some people funding him,” he added.
His remarks come at a time when Atwoli, is organizing the BBI forum Western Kenya region edition, which the two have questioned, claiming that they have not been invited.
Surprisingly, his remarks come only four years after Atwoli lined all the major political figures in Western Kenya and declared Mudavadi the Western Kenya political spokesman.
However, the trade unionist has lately been seen to be more lenient towards the ODM leader Raila Odinga side.
