Political analyst David Makali has alleged that Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is a good exemplification of a Swahili saying 'Mtaka vyote hukosa vyote'.

In a tweet on Thursday, Makali noted that Sonko wanted to selfishly govern Nairobi without soliciting for assistance.

The journalist asserted that Sonko ran the Nairobi county government alone and wielded executive powers without an assistant in form of a deputy governor by his side.

Further, he claimed that the governor failed to rescue himself and his government after he became reluctant to appoint a deputy who could have filled the power gap while he was out of office.

"Sonko is the perfect example of "Mtaka vyote hukosa yote". He wanted to hog all the executive power and run a one-man show without a deputy. And even when it was clear he faced being barred from office by precedent, he couldn't save his authority by pushing in a proxy deputy," tweeted Makali.

Governor Mike Sonko has been running Nairobi county without a deputy after Polycarp Igathe resigned last year.

When Sonko was arrested on Friday in connection with corruption allegations, the county government remained without a governor and a deputy.

Although the governor has been released on a cash bail of Sh15 million, he has been barred from accessing his office until the case is heard and determined.
