Speaking during a meeting with leaders from Ukambani graced by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Governor Ngilu held the view that the initiative has a lot to do with 2022.

"Me I want to believe that BBI has much to do with 2022," she said, in a video shared on YouTube.

Charity Ngilu's words came as anticipation builds towards the BBI meeting to be held in Kitui county this weekend.

Veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga and his long time political adversary President Uhuru Kenyatta, chief proponents of the BBI, have downplayed that the BBI is about the elections in 2022.

The two leaders have pitched the BBI report as a game-changing document that has more to do with bringing unity to the country than 2022 politics.

The report compiled by the BBI committee was launched to late 2019 by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the historic Bomas of Kenya.

There have been divisions among the politicians over the intentions underpinning the initiative.

A section of the political class has held that there is a plot to revise the report so as to accommodate individual interests.
