The Ekuru Aukot-led team managed to secure 1 million signatures which are prerequisite for pushing constitutional changes, something that might have caught Odinga by surprise.

Through the ODM party statement, Odinga is set to put records straight, a move that will minimise confusions among party members, ODM revealed.

"We shall give our official position on the Punguza Midigo referendum push tomorrow (Thursday 25th July 2019) at 12pm at Orange House," the party tweeted.

Secretary General Edwin Sifuna is set to lead the team on behalf of Mr Odinga in the much anticipated press conference, which could make or break Aukot's push for changes.

Already, a number of Odinga's allies over the weekend hinted that the only referendum they will support is the one expected to be recommended by BBI team.

"We are waiting for the BBI report that has all the issues of the people. The questions in Aukot's proposals have not undergone stakeholders’ consultations. Let us wait for October when we will have the BBI report and thereafter a referendum that will decide on the fate of Kenyans," Senator Orengo said.

On Tuesday, Aukot asked Orengo and other critics to join the national debate on the bill, adding that criticising it in villages and social functions.

"I invite my nomad brother @HonAdenDuale together with my nilotic brother and senior Counsel @orengo_james to a public debate on the #PunguzaMizigoBill2019. They should stop distorting facts about the Bill in their villages. Come to a national platform we debate," he said.
