Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja has lifted the lid on an alleged plan to disrupt the Mombasa edition of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) consultative forum and the subsequent meetings.
Sakaja on Wednesday claimed that his colleagues in Jubilee Party are planning to cause chaos using hired goons, whom he says will be ferried to the meeting venues.
He added that allies of Deputy President William Ruto have resorted to that technique so as to claim that they were kicked out of the meetings, a plan he says they will not fall prey to.
“We know their plan to ferry goons to cause chaos then claim that they have been kicked out of the meetings. We will not fall for their trap," Sakaja said in a press conference in Nairobi, according to Standard.
Similar remarks were made by Nakuru governor Lee Kinyanjui in a separate interview with the Standard.
The governor warned against the plot, as he also told off the group against its attacks on President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The revelation comes only two days after the Ruto brigade, which was initially against the forums, stated that they will be fully involved in them going forward.
But the claims were dismissed by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa and Nominated MP David Sankok, who insisted that they will be in Mombasa to promote national unity.
“We have no problems with the conditions. What we want is a united country," said Sankok.
It has also emerged that Barasa is already involved in mobilization in Mombasa ahead of the function.
