There was Joy at Keroka Technical Training Institute in Kisii County after 51 needy students who were almost missing to register for examinations received the fee from Swanya Foundation.
Speaking during the colourful event at the institute, the students who were unable to pay for examination fees due to poverty expressed their confidence in working hard and thanked the foundation for coming to their rescue.
"We thank Swanya foundation for rescuing us from the jaws of poverty. We are proud because we will sit for examination like other students and this is the opportunity we have received to shape our future. We promise to work hard to better our lives," said Geoffrey Orina a beneficiary.
On his part, the Director and founder of Swanya Foundation Hon Victor Swanya said their aim is to see future responsible citizens who are able to create employment in line with the big 4 four agenda an initiative propelled by His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta.
"The future of this nation lies on those people who have manufacturing skills. Those are the people who will create employment in line with the President's big 4 agenda. These are the only people who will fulfil this initiative because after leaving here with skills they will be able to depend on themselves and promoting others by creating employment," said Swanya.
The school deputy Principal Robinson Kambi appealed to those students who did not manage to score direct entry to university to enrol on technical institutions to better themselves.
"The Kind of education we give here goes online with the big 4 Agenda. So any student who did not manage to score direct university grade should enrol to such institutions to get skills of bettering themselves because our nation wants people who depend on themselves," Said Kambi.
