Top Coast security bosses have been reshuffled in the intensified war against drugs by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
The affected officers are; County Police Commander Johnston Ipara, County Commissioner Evans Achoki and Coast Regional Police Commander Marcus Ocholla.
Mr Ocholla who was appointed in January this year will be replaced by Western Region Police Boss Rashid Yakub, from the Administration Police (AP) unit.
County Police Commander Johnston Ipara has been moved to Uasin Gishu. He will be replaced by Mr Augustine Nthumbi.
Last week, Mr Ipara led a group of officers in a drug search on Mombasa businessman Ali Punjani's palatial residence in Nyali.
Mr Ipara has served as Mombasa County Police Commander for a period of three years.
County Commissioner Evans Achoki has been moved to Marsabit County.
According to a source quoted by the Nation, the top county bosses have been moved due to their failure to deal with the drugs issue in the coastal region.
"Last week's raids have been seen as some hullabaloo because not a single big person was taken to court and charged over the drugs-related case," said the source.
The Standard also reported that the reshuffle came about following the cases of violence that were witnessed in Likoni, Kisauni and Nyali as well as a lack of proper coordination in the fighting the drug menace in the county.
