Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions after Malindi  Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa and her bodyguard, Geofrey Okuto was released by the court.

Appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Vincent Adet of a Mombasa Court, the two were released on an Sh500, 000 cash bail or Sh1 million bond. 

The court in its ruling noted that it has a duty to defend the rights of an accused person until they are proven guilty. 

"Further the responded shall present themselves through the DCI Offices Malindi to assist in investigations of the alleged offences,’’ the court ruled as quoted by Citizen TV in a tweet. 

Kenyans expressed mixed reaction to the ruling with some blasting the police officers for arresting the MP while others be-mourned her release noting that someone was killed due to the chaos she started.
