Dr Sharon Grissinger, a podiatry, reveals that prescription drugs can have a negative impact when used with alcohol

"Prescription pain medicines and antianxiety medications such as Valium and Xanax can have an additive effect when mixed with alcohol," says Dr Grissinger as quoted on webmd.

"You won't be alert. Your driving response time will suffer. Don't mix these together," she added.

Here are the common drugs you should never mix with alcohol;

1. Antibiotics

Here, alcohol can reduce the efficacy of the drug and make it less effective. Try as much as possible to steer clear of drinking alcohol when taking antibiotics such as Flagyl.

 2. Diabetes medications

These drug's effectiveness can be compromised by alcohol because it interferes with the thermodynamics and thermokinetics of the drug. When on such medication, it is usually important to shun alcoholic drinks.

3. Painkillers

Consuming alcohol while taking painkillers is perilous to your health. Among the risks that come with this habit are stomach upset, stomach bleeding and ulcers.

4. Antianxiety medications and sleeping pills

Using these drugs alongside taking some alcohol can be as well be risky than you can imagine. They can make you lose consciousness.
