Scholar Makau Mutua has said that Deputy President William Ruto is ready to do anything to ensure that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report does not sail through.
In a tweet on Monday, Makau Mutua said that the DP is using all the laws of power to defeat the BBI report.
He alluded that Ruto is not happy with the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Amolo Odinga.
According to Makau Mutua, Ruto can go an extra mile to ensure that the two leaders part ways as he seeks to rise to power come 2022.
"DP @WilliamsRuto is DEPLOYING all the 48 Laws of Power in a bid to defeat BBI and the Handshake — https://nateliason.com/notes/48-laws-power-robert-greene," he tweeted.
According to the first law of power, one is not expected to outsmart his master. However, Makau Mutua is of the opinion that Ruto has decided to outsmart his master through all means.
The second law of power indicates that one should never put too much trust in friends when he or she wants to rise to power. Ruto has lost several allies in the recent past and is not ready to take chances anymore.
The Third law of power states that: "Hide your intentions not by closing up (with the risk of appearing secretive, and making people suspicious) but by talking endlessly about your desires and goals" and Makau Mutua believes Ruto has hidden his intentions over his stand on BBI.
The DP has been warning his rivals against making him the subject of BBI.
Speaking on Sunday at St. Christopher Catholic Parish - Kyumbi, Maanzoni, Machakos County for a church service, Ruto said that leaders should learn to engage on real issues and not propaganda.
"I saw yesterday insults formed half of the meeting, there was less mention of BBI than mention of Ruto and his home in Sugoi," Ruto said, according to Star.
