Renowned television presenter Anne Kiguta has weighed in on the state of Kibra constituency just days after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party won the constituency's by-election.
Speaking on her 'Punchline ' programme aired on Mediamax-owned K24 TV, Anne Kiguta delivered a sobering assessment; Kibra, Odinga's 'bedroom', is not looking good.
Rattling off a list of the problems that the constituency faces, from poor sanitation to inadequate water, she called on the former prime minister to begin the task of cleaning up Kibra.
"Baba if Kibra is your bedroom, then the jokes write themselves. the way they do. In your bedroom, water and sanitation are literally a pipe dream and have been for decades. Access to decent housing for the people of Kibra have gone the canine way, " she said.
The ODM brigade employed the bedroom narrative to win votes amid stiff competition from the governing Jubilee party candidate former Harambee Stars forward McDonald Mariga, who was rumoured to be Deputy President Dr William Ruto's project.
Kibra has long grappled with the bewildering array of problems associated with slums.
In his defence, Raila said in the course of the by-election campaigns that his plan to transform the face of Kibra was thwarted by wealthy individuals who sought a court injunction.
Imran Okoth's opponents tried to leverage Raila Odinga's record in Kibra, which they said was poor, to gain political mileage.
They contended that Odinga had been the area's legislator for many years but had not done much to improve the lives of the residents.
