ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has reacted to claims that Onyi Jalamo made during an exclusive interview that he was not paid for a song used during the Kibra by-election
Responding to a Twitter user who raised the issue, Edwin Sifuna said he was not aware of it.
"Brother SG, talking of Kibra & non-payment, I watched a video of Onyi Jalamo saying he wasn't paid for the song he composed for @ImranOkoth's campaign. He even said the money he got from the Mariga campaign is what paid the Imran studio expenses, "the Twitter user wrote.
Sifuna urged the NASA Tibiim hit-maker to reach out to him so that the issue can be resolved.
"I have information about that because as a party we did not have a budget to commission new songs. If I had it I could even have given Ethic and the likes of Ochunglo the contract. Onyi has my number, tell him to call me I direct him to the person that's supposed to pay. (Hio sina Habari juu as a Party we did not have a budget to commission new songs. Ningekua nayo ningedunga hata kina ethic na ochunglo kandarasi. Onyi ana number yangu mshow anivutie nimtaftie ule mtu anafaa kumlipa, " Sifuna replied.
Onyi Jalamo raised eyebrows during the intense Kibra by-election campaigns after he jumped ship and composed a song for the Mariga campaign.
In the interview, the artist who was catapulted to fame in 2017, named the former Harambee Stars player as one of the individuals he is most proud to have worked for.
